We need to keep discourse civil

Regarding Sunday's op-ed piece by Mike Rotkin on the desalination issue, I was frankly shocked that a former mayor would accuse local citizens Rick Longinotti, Paul Gratz and David Stearns of intentionally misleading the public with inaccurate information Sentinel op-ed, Jan. 23. Why does Mr. Rotkin consider expressing concern over water safety, project cost and environmental effects fear-mongering? Wasn't the Tucson shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and others a signal to promote a new spirit of cooperation among people with differing ideas? Let's try to keep the discourse civil and respectful, with each side providing facts to help us make well-informed, sound choices.
